Wildland Urban Interface Home Project – Week 2
Hopefully, you had a chance in between rain showers last weekend to work on removing clutter from around the outside of your home to prepare for the upcoming hotter, drier months. Fortunately, the weather is looking much better for this weekend. It’s a great time to work on the week two project.
Week 2 Project: THE ROOF
Remove leaves, pine needles, and other flammable material from the roof and gutters. Inspect shingles or roof tiles and replace them if missing. While on the roof, check attic vents to make sure they are covered with 1/8 inch wire mesh to help prevent sparks from entering your home.
SAFETY NOTE: Please use caution anytime you use a ladder or are on your roof. Be sure to wear proper footwear, choose a clear, calm day to work, use a sturdy ladder, use a safety harness and never work alone. Hire a professional to do the work whenever possible.
