Congratulations to Captain Jordan Gustafson for being named 2024 Fire Officer of the Year!
Captain Jordan Gustafson has earned the title of Fire Officer of the Year for his exemplary leadership and ability to uplift his peers. As a contributing member of several teams, including the Ladder Truck and Wildland Fire teams, Gustafson’s hands-on approach and practical knowledge have proven invaluable during emergency operations.
Known for his ability to balance professionalism with camaraderie, Captain Gustafson empowers those around him to achieve their best, making him a leader and a trusted mentor. His dedication to excellence is underscored by a commitment to continuous improvement within the VRFA, ensuring the organization’s operational capability remains high.

Gustafson joined the VRFA in 2011 and was promoted to Captain in 2020. In addition to the Ladder Truck and Wildland Fire teams, Gustafson has served on the Public Information & Education team and Zone 3 Incident Support team, is the current Union Vice President, and provides backup for the Zone 3 PIO team.
