VRFA Firefighter of the Year – Cory Wallace

Cory Wallace has been named Firefighter of the Year for his unwavering commitment to mentorship and community service. Firefighter Wallace’s professionalism, patience, and dedication have made a significant impact as a Public Information and Education Specialist team member. He plays a pivotal role in the VRFA’s school program success, ensuring all Kindergarten, first, and second-grade classes in our service area receive valuable fire and injury prevention lessons. He also took on a leadership role with the Zone 3 Public Information Officer program, managing the VRFA’s rotation.

In addition to his community outreach efforts, Wallace is a dedicated member of the Peer Support Team and leads various community initiatives, including the Toys for Kids drive, showcasing his caring nature and dedication to helping others.

His colleagues have praised Wallace for his strong work ethic, positive attitude, and willingness to engage and train fellow firefighters. “Cory epitomizes the values we stand for at the VRFA,” says a coworker. “His leadership skills and extensive involvement in community outreach reflect his commitment to making a positive difference.”

Wallace began his career with the VRFA in 2015 and received the Mack Award in 2023.
