VRFA presents three Muckleshoot Staff Members with Citizen Lifesaving Awards
Earlier this month, we presented three Muckleshoot Security Staff members with Citizen Lifesaving Awards.
On the afternoon of July 6, 2024, EMT/Security Officer Amber Harris, Security Supervisor Scott Queja, and Security Officer Robert Bertolet responded to reports of an unconscious and unresponsive patient on the casino floor. Together, the team provided CPR and delivered two shocks to the critically ill patient using a nearby automated external defibrillator (AED) before the arrival of the Auburn Police Department and VRFA personnel. They administered a third shock as VRFA Engine 332 began care.
The patient was transported to the hospital with a pulse and blood pressure. Responding VRFA firefighters stated that this initial responding team was instrumental in a positive outcome for this patient.
This incident is another reminder of how important early bystander CPR and the use of AED can be! Learn CPR. Save a life.
