Prepare for Wildfire Season – Week 1

Easily lifted by the wind, dry leaves, pine needles, and other debris can scatter all around the yard. Debris can accumulate at the base of buildings and on the roof, especially in rain gutters. This debris is combustible; all it takes is a flying ember to land on your home to ignite a fire. Work on your defensible space and protect your home by removing dead or dry leaves and pine needles from your yard, roof, and rain gutters.

Don’t have the proper tools to do the work? No worries! Check out the South King Tool Library (SKTL) in Auburn! The SKTL lends out tools for everyone to maintain their homes and spaces at no cost! For more information about the South King Tool Library, please visit https://www.southkingtools.org/.

Safety note: Always exercise caution anytime you are using a ladder or on your roof.
