Administrative Assistant Julie Slevin Retires

Administrative Assistant Julie Slevin is retiring after sixteen years with the Valley Regional Fire Authority (VRFA).  Known for her quick wit, kind heart, and myriad of skills, Julie will be missed.

Julie began working for the VRFA in 2007, assisting with finance and human resources.  Two years later, she moved to the Support Services Division, where she spent most of her career.  As Administrative Assistant, Julie touched almost every aspect of support services.  She served as the Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee Manager for 13 years and handled necessary filings for the Veteran’s Administration.  She managed office operations, completed countless requisitions, and tracked training and apparatus compliance.

“When asked to fit another task into her schedule, Julie always found a way.  She is masterfully organized, intelligent, and fun to work with.  She consistently raised the standards of her job,” said Fire Marshal David Casselman.

In addition to her work responsibilities, Julie helped with the American Cancer Society Relay for Life, Toys for Kids drive, Scout Night, and numerous other community events and fundraisers.

“Julie has an innate ability to care for others, sometimes putting others’ needs before her own.  Julie has consistently demonstrated our guiding value of Selfless Service by supporting the VRFA’s service delivery through several work groups.  Her caring work will always be remembered and fondly recalled,” said Fire Chief Brad Thompson.
