Red Flag Fire Warning issued for gusty winds, low humidity & hot conditions

The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag fire danger warning for Northwest Washington for gusty winds, low humidity, hot/dry and unstable conditions. There is an increased fire danger due to “a combination of moderate breezes, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures that can contribute to rapid rates of spread and down-wind spotting on existing fires.”

This warning will remain in effect until 10:00 PM, Thursday, September 9th.  All outdoor recreational burning is prohibited.

Please take extra care to avoid anything that could cause a fire including:

  • Disposal of cigarette butts
  • Driving or parking on dry grass
  • Anything metal dragging from vehicles
