Being safe outside near cars is important. If you play outside, including walking or biking near the street, you will learn ways to help you stay safe. Make sure to pay close attention to the video and activity to be able to answer the questions after.

After the activity and video, answer the following questions.

  1. Who should always walk with you to help you stay safe?
  2. What is the place in the road called where we cross the street?
  3. Before you cross the street, what should you do?
  4. Is it better to wear dark or bright colors when walking outside?
  5. What should you do if there isn’t a sidewalk for you to walk on?

 

 

Answers:

  1. An adult or older sibling.
  2. Crosswalk.
  3. Look left, right, and left again. Then listen.
  4. Bright colors so drivers can see you.
  5. Walk as far on the side of the road as possible, facing traffic and make eye contact with the driver.
