Administration

The VRFA is under the leadership of Administrator Eric Robertson. Mr. Robertson was appointed by the Board of Governance in 2006 and oversees the day-to-day activities of the VRFA, ensuring the efficient and economic administration of the Authority. Robertson brings 24-years of public safety experience to the VRFA, having served in a variety of positions with the Washington State Patrol, as a volunteer with King County Fire District #28/Rescue One, as a member of the Washington State House of Representatives, and as the United States Marshal for Western Washington.

The fire suppression, emergency medical and special operations functions of the VRFA are under the command of Fire Chief Stan Laatsch. Chief Laatsch has served his entire 30-year career with the Auburn Fire Department, working in nearly every aspect of municipal fire service operations. Laatsch has served as a firefighter, Lieutenant, Captain, Battalion Chief, Assistant Chief and has served as Chief since May 16, 2007. He served in the department's Special Operations Division for 13 years, the last eight years as its chief officer.

In addition to the Administrator and Fire Chief, daily administration and management of the VRFA is conducted by an Assistant Chief and the Director of Finance & Administration. They are supported by the Fire Marshal, the Training & Safety Division Chief, a Public Education and Information Officer, a Network & Systems Administrator, and four administrative support personnel. The fire and EMS personnel are supervised by Battalion Chiefs.
